Canterbury Villa Family Celebrates Accomplishments Together
April 21, 2020Alliance, Ohio - The Canterbury Villa family has a new accomplishment to celebrate! Nursing Assistant Theresa Oakes is proud to announce her daughter's completion of the Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree. Theresa, who is "so proud and over the moon," is thankful to share this achievement with the community.
Dr. Renee Therese Hart, DNP, developed an interest in nursing from a young age. Inspired by her grandmother Julia Wagner's nursing career, Renee was determined to join the medical profession. According to Theresa, Renee was an easy child who always listened. She excelled in school and was known for her "do it, do it well" mentality. Renee was also active in her community, serving as an altar girl at St. Joseph's in Maximo. Her foundation of faith, compassion, and hard work both inspired and enabled her to accomplish her goals.
Renee earned her nursing degree from the University of Akron. She implemented her mother's strong study habit, which paid off. She balanced work and studies as she cared for her grandfather with dementia. Her freshman year, she joined the military and earned the rank of Major. She served in Iraq, Korea, and Thailand. She was always eager to learn and try new things, including jumping out of a plane! Reflecting on Renee's college years, Theresa says, "She saw a need and stepped up. She was determined to get through nursing school."
Continuing her mission to help others, prevent illness, and provide the best quality of life, Renee worked as an RN for ten years before completing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice. While her own diligence and effort cannot be ignored, Renee also credits her faith and family for supporting her through her career and education. Her supportive husband Craig Hart and 2-year-old son Colton provided encouragement and morale along the way.
Let's congratulate Theresa and her family for this impressive accomplishment!
